Tautunu. Passenger/Cargo. Built in Singapore in 1967 from a design formulated by Capt. G. Sharp, the then marine superintendent. The vessel is 84ft long, powered by a 320 bhp. Kelvin engine, giving an economical cruising speed of 8 knots. She accommodates 12 saloon and 22 deck passengers and carries 40 tons of cargo. With her sister ship the "Temauri" she provides a two-weekly service to all of the islands in the Gilbert group.
