Moby Dick

Post by shipstamps » Tue Nov 25, 2008 6:38 pm

The 70 pf stamp shows the Moby Dick as she appears at night, lit up by coloured lights. She looks like a piece of the famous Disneyland with the shape of the whale she is named after. The mouth tail and eyes, not to mention the painted scales of the whale, give a really clever idea of how Moby Dick might have appeared.
In service on the Wannsee, and owned by Stern and Kreisschiffahrt, of Berlin, she was built in 1973. Length is 48.3m., beam 8.2m., and passenger capacity 486.
