Built as a cargo/passenger/mail vessel under yard No 95 by Ateliers & Chantiers de la Loire, St Naziere for Chargeurs Réunis, Le Havre.
12 February 1914 launched under the name ASIE.
Tonnage 8.561 gross, 5.160 dwt, dim. 139.1 x 17.06m. length bpp. 133.9m.
Powered by two triple expansion steam engines, 7.500 hp., twin shafts, speed 14.5 knots.
Passenger accommodation for 335 passengers in three classes.
May 1914 delivered.

Put in the service between France and the West Coast of Africa.
30 May 1914 sailed for her maiden voyage.
From 1914 till 1916 used as a hospital ship, then as troop transport till 1918 by the French Government.
23 April 1918 she collided with the torpedo boat MORTIER in the Adriatic, in which she was damaged.
1918 Returned to owners, and again in the service between France and the Africa west coast.
11 October 1919 sailed from Bordeaux for a voyage to Brazil and La Plata ports.
10 October 1920 went aground in the Garonne River but was refloated.
14 December 1925 while sailing from Dakar, she lost her starboard propeller, and then collided with the quay, damaging her hull.
24 July 1927 went aground near Matadi, Belgian Congo refloated three days later.
02 September 1929 suffered a fire in hold No 1 while in drydock.
September/October 1935 fitted out with oil burners at Bordeaux.
1940 Taken over by the Vichy Government.
13 March 1943 seized by the Germans at Marseilles, and transferred to Italy, renamed ROSSANA.
September 1943 again seized by the Germans.
10 May 1944 during an Allied air attack on Genoa, she got on fire and capsized.
1946 Refloated and scrapped.
