Post by shipstamps » Thu Nov 06, 2008 3:07 pm

The Panama shown on a 12 cent denomination belonged to the Panama Railroad (Steamships Management).
The Panama was built as the Havana in 1899 by W. Cramp and Sons, at Philadelphia; a sister to the Colon, with dimensions 360ft. x 50ft. x 32.2ft. and a gross tonnage of 5,667. She was equipped with triple-expansion 6-cylinder engines, supplied by Cramps, which drove twin-screws.
