Built as a cruise liner under yard No. A31 by Chantiers de L’Atlantique, St Nazaire, France for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Liberia, Monrovia.
15 December 1993 keel laid down.
05 September 1994 launched under the name LEGEND OF THE SEAS. One sister the SPLENDOUR OF THE SEAS.
Tonnage 69.130 gross, 37.717 net, 5.200 dwt., dim. 264.26 x 32 x 10.45m., draught 7.8m. Length bpp. 221.5m.
Powered by 5 Wärtsila-Vasa diesels, connected to the two electric motors, 54.300 kW., two fixed blade propellers, speed 24 knots.
Accommodation for 2.064 passengers of which 1.804 are based on double berths cabins.
Crew 720 persons.
28 April 1995 delivered to owners.

29 April 1995 she left the yard with on board 200 yard laborers, who during the crossing of the North Atlantic the vessel had to complete.
She sailed via Boston to New York were she arrived on 05 May.
After a few introduction cruises from New York with invited guests and press, she left on 16 May for her first cruise from Miami, and via the Panama Canal to Los Angeles, where she arrived on 28 May.
Then used till September 1955 in Alaska cruises.
29 November 1996 grounded when she left Catalina Island, Dominican Republic.
24 March 2003 transferred to Bahamas Registry with homeport Nassau.
