BRAHMAN EXPRESS

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No. 438 by the Arnhemsche Scheepsbouw Mij at Arnhem, Netherlands for the Hollandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij at Amsterdam.
30 October 1965 launched under the name RIJNSTROOM.
Tonnage 552 gross, 203 net, 804 dwt. Dim. 80.75 x 10.9 x 3.41m., draught 3.36m.
Powered by one 16-cyl. MAN diesel 1.801 hp. (1.324 kW), one propeller, speed 12 knots.
1966 Delivered to owners. She was one of the earliest ro-ro vessels.

After delivery used in the weekly service from Amsterdam to Shoreham, Sussex.
01 July 1970 Transferred to the Koninklijke Nedlloyd, Amsterdam, after a merger when 4 Dutch shipping lines formed the Nedlloyd group.
1972 Transferred to the Hollandsche Stoomboot Maatschappij again.
1974 Again transferred to the Nederlandsche Scheepvaart Unie (Nedlloyd).
1975 Sold to Vroom in Breskens, Netherlands, renamed in CAR EXPRESS.
Refitted in a ro-ro freighter/livestock carrier by the yard of J.L.Meyer at Papenburg, Germany. She was fitted out with a stern door and ramp. Can carry maximal 600 heads of cattle. To remove the stables and refit her again in a ro-ro cargo vessel it takes the crew less than 24 hours.
14 September 1977 delivered to Vroom after her refit.
1981 Transferred to Janet Shipping Co. Ltd., Port Vila, Vanuatu (Vroom manager), renamed BRAHMAN EXPRESS.
1987 Transferred to Maunland Navigation Inc. (Vroom managers), Manila, Philippines.
Tonnage increased to 1.512 gross, 256 net, 931 dwt.
1996 Sold to Eaga Shipping Mgt. Co. Inc., Manila Philippines, renamed EAGA RAPID TRADER I.
