ATLAS II

This stamp issued by Poland shows three ships models of which only the vessel in the front of the stamp depict a name.
She is the tug ATLAS II.
Built under yard No 115 by the Svenborg Skibsvaerft, Svendborg, Denmark for the Polish Government (Zarzad Port), Danzig.
Launched under the name ATLAS II.
Tonnage 187 gross, 53 net, 100 dwt., dim. 28.7 x 8.0 x 4.0m.
Powered by ?, hp?, speed 11.5 knots.
1966 Delivered.
She is not only used for harbour duty, some photo’s of her I found on the net shows her also in other ports in Europe.
19 May 2003 she grounded on the approaches to Kronshtadt off St Petersburg, Russia.
She was refloated by the Russian YASNYY of the local salvers Baltic Tug on 20 May.
No damage, pollution or personal injury has been reported.
