During the autumn of 1856 a shipping company was founded in Turku, Finland with the idea to build a new vessel as replacement for the wooden ÖRNSKÖLD used in the service, but became to small to carry all goods, mail and passengers.
November 1856 the yard of Nyköpings Bruk och Mekaniska Verkstad received an order from the Swedish company Ångfartygsbolaget Aura, Turku to built an iron paddle steam vessel.
Launched under the name AURA.
Tonnage 211 reg. 150 net, dim. 57.0 x 7.0 x 2.4m.
A steam engine of 150 hp., speed 12 knots.
Passenger accommodation for 60 first and 30 second class.
05 August 1858 delivered.

Used in the passenger-cargo-mail service between Stockholm-Turku-Helsinki-Vyborg-St Petersburg.
The Finnish post placed already from the beginning a letterbox in the vessel.
1861 Owners merged with the Åbo Nya Ångfartygsbolag.
1886 Sold to St Petersburg owner, though stayed on same route.
Fate, unknown.
