Built under yard no 431 as a cargo vessel by Austin & Pickersgill, at South Dock, Sunderland for Astoria Shipping & Trading Co. Ltd., U.K., a daughter company of the Bianchi Group.
1957 Launched under the name MARCON TRADER.
Tonnage. 1.915 gross, 903 net, 2.500 dwt., dim. 265 x 41 x 18.2ft., draught 16.9ft., between pp 250 ft.
Powered by one 9 cyl. Polar diesel, 1.700 bhp., speed 11 knots, one screw.
September 1957 delivered to owners. (managed by J.Fisher at Whitehaven)
1968 Transferred to Albright & Wilson Ltd., U K. not renamed.
1969 Transferred to Medships Ltd., also one of the Bianchi Group. First under U.K. flag, later that year under Malta flag and registry. Renamed MEDINA.
Used in the service between North European ports and ports in the Mediterranean.
1972 Again under British flag and registered in Newcastle.
The same year later sold to Cia de Navigation Retor S.A. Panama, renamed PALUMA.
1977 Sold to Soc. Di Arm. & Nav. Safra, Italy. Not renamed.
1978 Sold to Renato Maggioni, Viareggio, Italy renamed SAFRA PRIMA.
1983 Sold to Souli Shipping Co., Greece, renamed THEODOROS DEMET.
1987 Sold to shipbreakers at Trieste, work commenced Dec. 1987.
