Built as a cruise vessel under yard No N31 by Chantiers de L’Atlantique, St Nazaire, France for Renaissance Cruises, Monrovia, Liberia.
August 1999 launched under the name R THREE, seven sisterships named R ONE to R EIGHT.
Tonnage 30.277 gross, 11.481 net, 2.700 dwt., dim. 181.0 x 25.46 x 18.10m., lpp 157.85m, draught 5.95m.
Powered by Four Wärtsilä diesel engines, 13.500kW, maximum speed 21 knots, service speed 18 knots. Bow thruster.
Passenger accommodation for 702 passengers. Crew 373.
End 1999 delivered to owners.

December 1999 in service from Papeete, Tahiti, made cruise voyages from this port into the Pacific.
25 September 2001 Renaissance Cruises filed for bankruptcy and the cruise vessels of this company laid up, the R THREE was arrested in Papeeta.

October 2002 sold to FPP in Santa Clarita, Ca. USA, (P&O Princess Cruises), renamed PACIFIC PRINCESS. Under the flag of Gibraltar. Call sign ZDDY7. IMO 9187887.
24 December 2002 made her first voyage for her new owners from Papeeta.
2008 Is sailing under the flag of Bermuda, and owned by Navire Copropriete, managed by Princess Cruises Inc.
