A supply ship built in 1954 of 4120 gt. Designed to serve off Madagascar with room for 12 passengers in cabins and 350 deck passengers. Equipped with a helicopter deck in 1957 she was used until 1972 and then broken up in 1983 and replaced by Marion Dufresne. SG82

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No. 274 by Chantiers & Ateliers de Provence at Port de Bouc, France for Cie. Des Messageries Maritiemes.
28 November 1953 launched under the name GALLIÉNI, one sister the IMERINA.
Tonnage 4.718 gross, 2.414 net. 4.054 dwt., dim. 378.3 x 52.10 x 28ft., draught 20ft.
One five cyl. Schneider/B&W. diesel engine 3.000 hp., one screw, speed 12½ knots.
Accommodation for 12 passengers, and 350 deck or tweendeck passengers.
Two decks, three holds, two before the bridge, one behind.
1954 Delivered.

Built for the service on the coast of Madagascar and islands in the Indian Ocean and the French possessions in the Antarctic.
In this service she anchored mostly in open roadsteads and discharged or loaded in lighters.
In addition for lifeboats for 433 persons, she carried a motor cutter, two surfboats and a service dinghy.

1973 Sold to Siam Gulf Shipping Co., Panama, renamed in EASTERN RISE.
July 1983 scrapped by Continental Steel in Bangkok.
