1989 Built as a light alloy mono-hulled passenger vessel under yard 1 by International Marine Service (IMS), Saint-Mandier, near Toulon, Mediterranean coast.
Her intended name was TRANSMED 2000, but before completing changed in IMPERIAL.
Tonnage 304 gross, 170 net, dim. 38.55 x 7.5 x 2.9m., length bpp. 32.4m, draught 1.12m.
Powered by three 16-cyl. General Motors diesel engine 4.410 kW (6000 hp), three waterjet propulsions, speed 37.5 knots.
Passengers 191-250 passengers.
11 July 1990 completed.
1990 Name changed to GALATEA, owned by Dixram, France, managed by Cogedom, St Barthelemy, France
1992 Renamed in MARIA GALANTA used in the service between Saint Pierre to Fortune, New Foundland.
March 2005 sold to SPM Express, Saint Pierre et Miquelon, not renamed.
She was not so successful after many technical problems sold in September 2005 to Fjellstrand and one month later to Oceanoi Ltd., Mauritius, not renamed but under the flag and registered at St Vincent and Grenadines, managed by Société Générale de Transports Maritime ( SGTM), Mamoudzou, Mayotte.
30 November 2005 arrived under tow from Durban at Dzaoudzi, Mayotte.
After arrival used in the service from Mayotte to Anjouan, Comoro Island a passage of three hours.
Also used to bring back home illegal immigrants from Mayotte to Anjouan.
January after an engine failure, her 140 passengers were transferred by a plane from Ndzuani Island to Maore Island.
March 2006 she resumed service.
