CHIL BO SAN or KUM GANG SAN

North Korea issued a set of 6 stamps which depict vessels used by or in fishing by North Korean. The 2ch is the CHIL BO SAN, the 5ch is the BAEK DU SAN and the 10ch the MOR AN BONG.
During 1968/69 two fishfactory vessels were built by the Verolme yard in Heusden, Netherlands for Korean Fishing Owners Industry.
Which ship is depict on this North Korean stamp is not clear, can be the CHIL BO SAN as given in Stanley Gibbons “Collect ships on stamps” or the KUM GANG SAN, both built by Verolme.
Built under yard No 789.
14 May 1969 launched under the name CHIL BO SAN. (Blauwe Wimpel and Register of Merchant Ships give that she was launched under the name TSCHIL BO SAN.)
Tonnage 10.236 gross, 5.003 net, 6.993 dwt, dim. 138.0 x 20 6.8m. (draught)
Cargo capacity 873 ton.
Powered by one Verolme-MAN diesel, one shaft, speed 15.8 knots.
Accommodation for 250 crew.
Trial September 1969.
1999 was she owned by Kimchaek Fishery Station, North Korea, when she during a voyage from Petropavlovsk to the Bering Sea during a severe storm grounded on 09 November 1999 in the Bering Sea in position 60 27N 169.30E.
She was seriously damaged and flooded with prospects of salvage unlikely.
Approximately 131crew members of a crew of 261were evacuated from the ship.
12 November the salvage tug NAPORISTY arrived, but bad weather were hindering the salvage attempts.
http://www.miramarshipindex.org.nz gives that she was wrecked 09 November 1999 and lost.

12 October 1968 launched under the name KUM GANG SAN, also given as KEUM GANG SAN.
Details the same as CHIL BO SAN.

1997/98 Deleted from Lloyds Register.
Both vessels sailed from Holland under the Dutch flag and with a Dutch crew, and were handed over to the Korean owners on arrival in North Korea.
