"M/V Barzan" is a Qatar-registered container and its port of registry is Doha. The ship is 183.2-meter long and the total tonnage registered is 20,526 tons.

MUSCAT -- United Arab Shipping Company (UASC)United Arab Shipping Company (UASC)Loading... set a record recently for the highest volume of exports from Port Sultan Qaboos. A UASCUASCLoading... ship, MV Barzan, loaded more than 500 TEUs (twenty equivalent units) of local export cargo from Oman for discharge in Shanghai, China resulting in the largest export volume of full containers from Port Sultan Qaboos for one vessel call. The 1561-TEU capacity vessel is one of the five ships deployed by UASCUASCLoading... on their Arabian Gulf Express (AGX) extended main line route. This service will connect Oman to the Far East and China calling Port Sultan Qaboos twice a week on East and West bound calls.

Built as a container vessel under yard No 115 by Hyundai Co., Ulsan, South Korea for the United Arab Shipping Co. Qatar.
Launched under the name BARAZAN, but before completed renamed in BAR’ZAN.
Tonnage 20.526 grt, 7.849 net, 24.302 dwt., dim. 183.2 x 27.5m., length bpp. 168.8m.
Powered by one 7-cyl. B&W diesel engine 14.600bhp., speed 17.5 knots.
1.242 TEU’s.
September 1979 completed, registered in Doha, Qatar.

She did belong to the A-1 class ships at that time, and she were at that time the most modern ships in the fleet of the UASC.
The class was used in the liner service from the USA East coast to the Middle East and Bombay with calls every 14 days at ports from Houston to New York.
19 September 2002 she arrived at Alang for breaking up.
