Built under yard no 99 by the Pusnes Mek. Verksted A/S Arendal, Norway for Ocean ( J.Lauritzen), Copenhagen.
31 July 1958 launched under the name PERLA DAN.
Tonnage 2.353 gross, 1.123 net, 2.675 dwt. Dim. 83.8 x 13.0m., length between pp 76.0m.
Powered by one 7 cyl. B&W engine, manufactured by A/S Burmeister & Wains Maksin- og Skibsbyggeri, Copenhagen. Speed 12.5 knots.
27 Jan. 1958 delivered to owners.
Built as a polar cargo ship with one deck and a shelterdeck.


The British FIDS/BAS chartered her for four seasons between 1968 and 1970 for the relief and supply of the British Antarctic base Halley.

11 Feb 1971 Sold to Chimo Shipping Ltd., St John’s, New Foundland, Canada, renamed PERCY M CROSBIE.
June 1977 laid up at St John’s N.F.
1981 Sold to Boreal Navigation Inc. Ste. Foy, P.O. Canada and renamed BAIE JAMES.
The same year sold to Eastern Pearl Shipping Co. S.A., Panama City, Panama and renamed MOTHI.
1982 Sold to Sri Mutiara Shipping & Trading Enterprise, Penang, Malaysia. Not renamed.
August 1983 she arrived at Cuddalore and was auctioned in Sept. 1984 to a Madras buyer, to pay the crew’s wages.
25 Dec. 1984 she sank at Cuddalore.
She must still be there, not a report of her that she was refloated or broken up, I could find.
