PÉREIRE passenger/cargo vessel 1866

Built as a passenger/cargo vessel under yard No 118 by Robert Napier & Sons, Glasgow for the Compagnie Génerale Transatlantique. Le Havre, France.
04 November 1865 launched under the name PÉREIRE.
Tonnage 3.150 gross, 1.755 net., dim. 345 x 43.5 x 29.0ft..
Powered by a steam engine 1000 hp., one screw, speed 13.6 knots
Accommodation for 200 first class and 120 second class.
Barque rigged.
She was designed by the French engineers Clapeyron and Eugéne Flachat.

She was special built for the French Line summer service across the North Atlantic, with a clipper stem and one funnel.
29 March 1866 maiden voyage from Le Havre via Brest to New York.
1872/73 The engine converted to 3-cyl. compound steam engine, by builders, a second funnel added.
14 February 1873 resumed service Le Havre via Brest to New York.
1881 Caught fire in the harbour of La Goulette near Tunis and had to be sunk to extinguish the fire.
07 April 1883 sailed for her last voyage from Le Havre to New York.
Thereafter used in the service from France to Central America and Caribbean.
1887 Stranded off St Nazaire and received major hull damage. Owners abandoned her to the underwriters.
The wreck was sold to A.E. Kinnear & Co., London, who salvaged her.
Towed to Blyth, where she was converted in a four-masted full rigged sailing vessel by the Blyth Dry Dock Co., Blyth.
Renamed LANCING.
Tonnage 2.678 gross, 2.600 net, dim. 108.50 x 13.30 x 8.29m.
Retaining painted ports on a black hull till she was scrapped.

24 February 1889 under command of Capt. J. Persson she sailed from Plymouth, with a full cargo of 18.000 casks cement from London to Melbourne, where she arrived on 21 June 1889.
1890.91 Made a voyage between New York to Melbourne, during a period of 72 hours she made a speed of 18 knots during this voyage.

1893 Sold to Johan Bryde and partners, Sandefjord, Norway, under command of Captain A. Raastad.
1896 Sold to Frank Ross & Co., London, under command of Captain Hatfield.

19 July 1901 sold to A/S/ Lancing (J.Johanson & Co), Kristiania for £6.500, under command of Capt. S.B. Johnsen.

15 April 1901 sailed from Newcastle, N.S.W. to San Francisco where she arrived on 13 June after a passage of 59 days.
15 May 1903 command taken over by Capt. N.B. Melsom.
Under his command she made a voyage with timber from Langesund to Melbourne in 75 days.
31 October 1914 command taken over by Capt. O. Olufsen.
01 February 1916 sailed from Ambrose light tower to Muckle Flugga, Shetland Islands in 12 days and 21 hours.
1918 Made an other fast voyage when she sailed from Santos, Brazil to Melbourne in 47½ days.
16 September 1918 under command of Capt. M. Mathiassen.
18 November 1918 sold to A/S Lancing (Magnus E. Melsom), Larvik.
15 January 1919 under command of Capt.P.Th. Pedersen.
27 March 1920 sold to A/S Lancing (Melsom & Melsom), Larvik.
Made thereafter some voyages between Europe and South America, and 1 round voyage from Ardrossan, Scotland to Cape Chatte, Canada before she was laid up.
From September 1921 till June 1922 laid up.
30 August 1922 under command of Capt. A. Larsen till 16 November 1923, then again laid up.
24 March 1924 under command of Capt. P.Hansen, made a retour voyage from Ardrossan to Cape Chatte.
After discharging in Ardrossan sold to Italian shipbreakers.
24 December 1924 under tow the LANCING left for Genoa, where she was scrapped by Frassinetti.
