The Arthur Lionel was the gift of Sir Thomas Robin, of Co. Cork. She was Guernsey's last pulling/sailing lifeboat and served the islands for 17 years. In 1929, the first motorised vessel, the Queen Victoria, took up the station in St. Peter Port; in 1940, when the island was occupied by enemy forces, this boat was in England for her annual overhaul, where she remained for the duration, serving at various R.N.L.I. stations.
