Euphrosyne Kendal (Lifeboat)

Post by john sefton » Thu May 21, 2009 10:15 am

The Euphrosyne Kendal, a Barnett type boat, arrived in Guernsey in 1954.
Named on July 17 after the lady whose generous legacy enabled the craft to be purchased, the "E.K.", as she was affectionately known, acquired an excellent record whilst in Channel Islands waters. Her most notable rescue, in 1963, was of the crew of the Norwegian ship Johan Collett, for which her coxswain, Hubert Petit, was awarded the R.N.L.L. Gold Medal for gallantry; two bronze medals were also awarded following this rescue.
