FREEDOM OF THE SEAS cruise liner 2006

Built as a cruise vessel under yard No 1352 by Aker Finnyards, Abo Finland for Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Miami, USA.
November 2003 ordered.
08 November 2004 keel laid down.
19 August 2005 floated out.
Tonnage 154.407 grt, 127.545 net, 10.500 dwt. Dim. 388.77 x 38.59 x 11.79m., draught 8.8m., length bpp. 303.21m.
Powered by 6 Wärtsilä 12V46C diesel engines, 99.924 hp (74.544kW), three ABB Azipod podded electric propulsion units, one fixed, two azimuthing, speed 22 knots.
Four bow-thrusters.
Accommodation for maximum 4375 passengers, 1.360 crew.

13 April 2006 left Åbo bound for Hamburg, where she arrived on 17 April 2006, where she docked at Blohm & Voss for repair on a damaged bearing in one of the three Azipod propulsion units.
24 April 2006 delivered to Royal Caribbean Cruises, with homeport Nassau, Bahamas.
26 April 2006 arrived at Oslo for an official welcome and show off to invited guests.
29 April 2006 arrived at Southampton.
03 May 2006 left Southampton for her first North Atlantic crossing bound for New York.
12 May 2006 officially named FREEDOM OF THE SEAS, naming ceremony was carried out by Mrs. Katherine Calder of Oregon, she has served as a foster mother to over 400 children. Ceremony was carried out at Bayonne NJ. She was the first of the Freedom class, and has now two sisters the LIBERTY OF THE SEAS and INDEPENDENCE OF THE SEAS.
From there she sailed to Boston, where she stayed from 19 till 22 May.
4 June she began her first cruise voyage from Miami, for a cruise to the Caribbean.
2008 Still in the service mostly from Miami to the Caribbean.
