WORLD PEACE tanker

Built under yard No4466 as a tanker by Bethlehem Steel Corp., Sparrows Point, Md. For World Tankers Corp., Monrovia, Liberia.
22 December 1948 launched as the WORLD PEACE.
Tonnage 10.892 grt, 6.539 net, 18.072dwt, dim. 167.5 x 20.8m, length bpp 159.7m.
Powered by two steam turbines geared to a single shaft, manufactured by Bethlehem Steel Co., Quincy, 7.700 shp., speed 15.5 knots.
Crew 42.
March 1949 delivered.

1962 Was she converted to a bulker with a new forward and cargo section built by Deutsche Werft at Hamburg.
Tonnage increased to 13.956 grt, 9.445 net, dim. 180.6 x 24.0m.
After the conversion managed by World Peace, Monrovia.
1968 Sold to Associated Bulk Carriers Inc., Liberia.
Arrived 23 February 1976 by Lian Yi Steel & Iron, Kaohsiung, Taiwan for scrapping.

Liberia 1979 5c/$1 sg1388/89, scott851/852 (The stamps give her as a M. S. but she was a S.S. (steam turbine ship).
