HERJÓLFUR ferry

Built as a ro-ro cargo-passenger ferry under yard No 77 by Sigbjorn Iversen A/S (SIMEK), Flekkefjord, Norway for Herjolfur h/f, Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland.
February 1992 launched as the HERJÓLFUR.
Tonnage 3.354 grt, 1.048 net, 480 dwt. Dim. 70.5 x 16.03 x 5.6m., lbp. 68.4m., draught 4 meter.
Powered by two Alpha Oil 4SA, each 12-cyl. 7.336bhp, speed 17 knots.
One bow- and one stern door.
Accommodation for 524 passengers, 78 cars.
23 cabins with berths for 32.
June 1992 completed. Homeport Westmann Island, Iceland.

After delivery used in the service between Torlakshofn and the Westmann Islands.
Food and beverages can be purchased on board and there is a dining area which seats 130 guests
The television lounge, which shows full-length films, provides comfortable seating for over 80 persons. There is also a sitting lounge with sofas and tables and additional couches and benches can be found both inside and on the outdoor deck.

Two and four person cabins are also available on board with sleeping accommodation for 32 persons. Finally, there are two areas in the ship which are especially designed for children, with toys and blocks and a television showing children's programs.
On the outdoor deck, passengers can sit down, relax and enjoy the fresh ocean air.
In good weather the trip is a comfortable and enjoyable cruise with fantastic views of the mainland on the one hand and the beautiful Vestmannaeyjar on the other. The trip between Vestmannaeyjar and Þorlákshöfn takes approx. 2 hours and 45 minutes.
1996 Sold to Vegagero Rikisins, but the management was kept by Herjolfur h/f.
January 2001 managed by Samskip.
01 January 2006 management taken over by Eimskip.
2009 Same name and owner, IMO No 9036088.
