Built in 1867 on the yard of Quayle & Martin at Cleveland as a wooden bark.
Launched under the name WILLIAM T GRAVES.
Tonnage 1.075 gross, 822 net, dim. 201 x 35 x 14ft.

Homeport Toledo, Ohio.
Used to carry mostly bulk cargo on the Great Lakes.
1870 She was fitted out with steam engines by Robert Hills, Buffalo, screw propeller.
1879 Owner is given as T.B. Casey.
Major repairs in 1879 and 1881.
1882 Owner is given as M.D. Carrington.
On a voyage from Chicago to Buffalo loaded with corn in bulk, she towed the schooner George W Adams, both were driven onshore during a storm on North Manitou Shoal off Dover’s Point, North Manitou Island, in Lake Michigan on 31 October 1885. The crew of 17 was rescued. The schooner was refloated a few days latter, but the WILLIAM T GRAVES broke up after two weeks concerted salvage attempts. She was a total loss of over $ 65.000.
You can find the wreck in 10 feet of water in position 45 02.95N and 86 99.44W.
The ship depict on the stamp is designed after a painting made in 1874 by the artist Paul Brown.
