Built under yard no 124 by Køobenhavn Flydedok & Skibsvæft, Copenhagen for H/r Eimskipafelag Island, Reykjavik, Iceland.
Launched under the name GULLFOSS (I).
Tonnage 1.414 gross, dim. 230.1 x 25.2ft.
Powered by one triple expansion steam engine, 1.200hp, speed 12 knots.
Passenger accommodation for 74 passengers in a first and second class.
March 1915 delivered to owners.
She was the first vessel of the Icelandic Steamship Company, which was established on 17 January 1914.
16 April 1915, she arrived for the first time in Iceland, and she was also the first Icelandic vessel having refrigerated facilities.
She was the flagship of the Icelandic merchant marine for a quarter of a century and her arrival marked one of the most remarkable events of the history of Icelandic communications during the current century.
Upon the occupation of Denmark during World War II on 9 April 1940 she was sequestered.
1947 Sold to P/F Skipafelagid Föroyer (Z. Niclasen), Thornshavn, Faroer Islands, renamed TJALDER.
1953 Renamed by owners in GAMLA TJALDER.
Broken up at Hamburg in 1953 by Walter Ritscher, where she arrived on 06 October 1953.
