GOLDEN ODYSSEY cruise vessel

Mr. Peter Crichton gives for this vessel the name GOLDEN ODYSSEY underway in the Bosporus, I agree with this identification.

Built as a cruise vessel under yard No 404 by Helsingør Værft og Maskinbyggeri, Helsingör, Denmark for the Royal Cruise Line, Piraeus, Greece.
07 February 1974 launched under the name GOLDEN ODYSSEY.
Tonnage 6.757 grt 3.141 net, 1.377 dwt., dim. 130.21 x 19.21 x 5.10m. (draught). Length bpp. 106.0m.
Powered by two Atlas-Mak 12M551AK oil engines, 19.517 hp., (14.560 kW)., twin screws, speed 21 knots.
Two bow-thrusters.
Accommodation for maximum 509, but carried mostly not more as 468.
September 1974 completed.

She was registered under Greek flag and with homeport Piraeus, but most of the finance came from American sources, and from the start she was closely connected to the American travel industry in long distance fly cruises.
She was designed to carry the number of passengers which could be carried in one Boeing 747.
After delivery she made a few Mediterranean cruises before she headed to South America east coast for cruises between Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires and ports between.
The next year was she in the summer in the Mediterranean and winters in the warmer and tropical zones.
March 1977 most of her American passengers were killed when the KLM plane and the American plane bringing the passengers for the next cruise, collided on the runway at Tenerife, Canaries Island.
The GOLDEN ODYSSEY sailed that trip almost without passengers and with her flag at half mast.

From 1984/85 during the northern winter she operated from Singapore to Hong Kong, Indonesia and the Philippines.
1987 She got a complete refurbishment at the Sembawang yard at Singapore.
1986 During the summer season she made cruises from Vancouver to Alaska, and also the following summers.
17 November 1989 the Royal Cruise Line was bought by the Kloster Cruise Line, Nassau, Bahamas. The GOLDEN ODYSSEY was not renamed, but her registry and homeport were changed to the Bahamas.
1992 She was for a short time a hotelship at Barcelona for the Olympic Games.
October 1993 during a cruise from New York to Canada she got crankshaft problems and was a few weeks out of service.
30 November 1994 bought by Astra II shipping, (Deutsche Seetouristik, Nassau, Bahamas, Deutsche Seerederei (DSR) for USA$18 million. Renamed ASTRA II.
After a refurbishment at a Ukrainian shipyard, was she chartered by the Caravelle Shipping Comp., Moscow. They in turn sub-chartered her to the German travel agent Neckermann.
05 May 1995 she made the first voyage for Neckermann.
21 November 1997 laid up at Genoa after the Caravelle charter terminated.
From 26 January till April 1998 rebuilt and modernized at a shipyard at Rijeka.
04 April 1998 chartered by Hapag-Lloyd for three years.
November 2000 sold by Astra II Shipping Ltd., Bahamas to Liberty Investment Worldwide Management Ltd., Bahamas (Conning Shipping manager) and renamed OMAR II.
June 2003 renamed OMAR 2, and January 2004 again OMAR II, same owners.

16 February 2004 Sold to Capture Success, Nassau, Bahamas, managed by Hover Management, and renamed MACCAU SUCCES.
Thereafter used as a cruise/casino vessel around Hong Kong.
2008 Still in service under same name and owners. Tonnage now given as 9.848 grt., 3.724 net.
2014 Sold to Star Sail Investments Ltd., Nassau Bahamas and renamed REX FORTUNE.
2015 Transferred by company to Motego, Jamaica registry and flag, not renamed

2018 Same name and registry, IMO No 7346934.
