SEVERN paddlesteamer 1825

The wooden paddlesteamer SEVERN was built in 1825 by the yard of J.Wilson. Liverpool for the St George Steam Packet Co.
Tonnage 2003 ton, dim. 130.11 x 22.1ft as built.
Single expansion steam engine, manufactured by builder.

First used in the service between Cork and Bristol, transporting cattle and cargo.
December 1826 used in the service between Waterford and Liverpool.
1832 Transferred to the Cork to Liverpool service.
1833 Lengthened, tonnage 216 tons burthen, dim. 143.1 x 22.1ft.
She was then re-registered at Dublin, and used in the service between Dublin and Bristol.
1844 The company was restyled in Cork Steamship Co. who took over many of the St George’s Steam Packet ships, the SEVERN being one of them.
23 March 1845 broken up. (Miramar gives 01 April 1849)
