The DAU was used to transport products in the Pemba (Porto Amelia) area at Mozambique.
Reported lengths 10-12 meters, carried mostly a crew of two.
Double ended boat. Carvel planked; slightly curved stem; raked sternpost; sheer line rises toward the bow.
Decked at the ends.
Carried a full cut quadrilateral lateen type sail with a short luff set to a forward raking mast; luff boomed out over the bow.
