Built under yard No. 5980 by Fincantieri Breda, Venice, Italy for the Holland America Line, Rotterdam.
1997 Building commenced.
21 December 1996 launched under the name ROTTERDAM (VI)
Tonnage 59.652 grt, 6.345dwt, dim. 237.95 x 32.25 x 7.50m (draught).
Powered by 5 16-cyl Sulzer-Fincantiere diesels engine, 37.500 kW, speed 22 knots.
Passenger accommodation for 1.668 passengers and 644 crew.
382 Outside cabins, 118 inside, 160 with balconies, and 20 for wheelchairs.
07 November 1997 delivered to owners.
The building cost 250 million US$.
IMO No. 9122552.


Built for worldwide cruising, and she is one of the fastest cruise ships afloat at that time.
She has a specialty restaurant, reminiscent of an old Venetian dining room, and a lounge that evokes the seafaring heritage of the company.
Fitted out with two dining rooms, casino, cinema, library, one outside swimming pool, one inside swimming pool, gymnasium, self-service launderette.
11 November 1997 sailed for her maiden voyage from Barcelona.
2004 Under Dutch flag and owned by Holland America Tours, Seattle, U.S.A. Managed by Holland America Line, Seattle.
2009 Owned by Holland America Tours, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and managed by Holland America Line Inc., Seattle, USA.

01 September 1920 sold to Borealis Cruise Ltd., Oslo, Norway, and renamed BOREALES.
Under Bahamas flag and register.
Managed by Fred Olsen Wind CarrierA.S. Oslo.
