POWIS

Built as a one deck ferry under yard No 417 by Ferguson Bros, Glasgow for Guyana account.
27 February 1956 launched as the POWIS, named after some kind turkey birds in Guyana.
Tonnage 299 grt, 157 net, 110dwt., dim. 135.10 x 30.2 x 7.6ft (draught).
Powered by two 5-cyl. oil engines manufactured by Blackstone & Co.. Ltd. Stamford, U.K., 808 bhp., geared to a single shaft, speed 10.7 knots.
Can carry 556 passengers.
March 1956 completed.

Used on the rivers of Guyana.
22 February 1969 she sank.
2009 Possible she was refloated, there are some web-sites which give she is still in service?

It's actually Ferguson at Port Glasgow who built her. The inhabitants of "The Port" don't like their thunder being pinched by Glasgow!
