Built as a icebreaker, anchor handling supply-tug under yard no 107 by the yard of Burrard Yarrows Corp. at Vancouver B.C. for Gulf Canada Resources Inc. Canada.
23 April 1983 launched under the name TERRY FOX. She was named after the famous Canadian Terry Fox, who after having one leg amputated attempted to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. At that time he was only 22 years old when he made his run. He completed 5.342 km before he was forced to stop due to the recurrence of bone cancer.
Tonnage 4234 gross, 1955 net, dim. 88 x 17.82 x 8.3m. (draught).
Powered by four Stork-Werkspoor 8TM 410 diesels, 17.300 hp., speed 15.5 knots, maximum 16 knots. Two controllable pitch propellers. Bow thruster and stern thruster.
Bunker capacity 1919 m³. Endurance 58 days. Daily bunker consumption 35m³.
One heavy crane with a lifting capacity of 40 tons.
One hold with a cargo capacity of 490 m³. Container capacity 7 – 40ft. containers on deck.
Crew 24 men, and accommodation for 10 extra.
Arctic class 4.

After completing operated in the Beaufort Sea as an icebreaker anchor-handling tug for the oil industries.
01 Nov. 1991 Chartered by the Canadian Coastguard for two years, and she was modified.
She is now stationed in Dartmouth Nova Scotia, and carried out icebreaking operations in Eastern Canada in the winter and during the summer operated in the Canadian Arctic.

Some sources give that the Canadian Coastguard now owns her

The other vessel depict on this stamp is GRANDE HERMINE, a replica of Cartier vessel.
