EDWARD

Post by aukepalmhof » Fri Oct 16, 2009 7:34 pm

Not much I could find on the EDWARD other than that she was a tender to HMS LIVERPOOL.
Not given in Ships of the Royal Navy by Colledge, so most possible a prize.

The EDWARD was armed with 8 guns.
07 April 1776 after a fight of about an hour with the American frigate LEXINGTON she struck her colours,
After a prize crew was put on board, she sailed to Philadelphia.

She was put under American flag and renamed SACHEM. (See index for her history under that name.)

The Malagasy stamp shows the EDWARD in action against the LEXINGTON.
