The oil-engined twin-screw Beloiannis, largest passenger ship in the lake, is the subject of a 2 Ft. stamp where she is shown in the background, the centre of interest of a figure group of holiday makers. She was built in 1950 at Balatonfured shipyard and can carry 800 people on her two well-arranged decks with two saloons and ample cabins.
The vessel can carry 800 persons.

Built for the Balatonfured fur die Balaton-Schifffahrt.
Dim. 43.6 x 7.2 x 2.9m., draught 1.45m.
One 400hp diesel engine.
Used during the summer season in the service between Siofok-Fured-Tihany.
1956 Transferred to the MHRT.
After a few years in service some structural faults came to light and in 1969 she was rebuilt.
1991 Renamed in BALATON.
2003 Taken out of service due to technical wear and tear. Fate unknown, but most probably scrapped.
