PANGAI (P 202) patrol craft.

Built as a patrol craft under yard No 254 by the Australian Shipbuilding yard in Jervoise Bay for account of the Australian Government.
02 October 1989 keel laid down.
Launched as the VOEA PANGAI (P 202) one of the Pacific Forum class patrol boats.
Displacement 162 tons standard, 195 tons full load. Dim. 31.5 x 8.1 x 1.8m. (draught)
Powered by two Caterpillar 3516TA diesel engines, 2,820 hp, twin shafts, speed 20 knots.
Range by a speed of 12 knots, 2,900 mile.
Armament 2 – 7.62mm MG.
Crew 17.
30 June 1990 completed.

June 1990 handed over to the Tonga Defence Services with homeport Nuku’alofa.
The Pacific Forum class is a class of 22 patrol boats built for the Government of Australia and donated to twelve South Pacific countries.
The class was constructed between 1985 and 1997 and is operated by military, coast guard or police forces of the twelve island nations, these craft are supported by the Pacific Patrol Boat Program.
They are used primarily for maritime surveillance and fisheries protection.

The PANGAI underwent a six month refit and repair period from mid-September 2009 by the Rosshaven Marine Shipyard in Townsville, Australia.
Her life extension got after the refit a other 15 years.
2010 In service.
