Built as a passenger-cargo vessel under yard No 446 by Motala Verkstad Nya A/B, Motala for the Ångbåts Jönköping AB, Stockholm, Sweden.
Launched as WILHELM THAM, named after the industrialist and CEO of the Husqvarna Weapons Factory Wilhelm Tham.
Tonnage 283 grt, dim. 29.48 x 6.73 x 2.90m.
Powered by one 2-cyl.compound steam engine, manufactured by shipsbuilder, 184 kW.
Accommodation for 80 passengers.
1912 Delivered to owners.
After delivery used in the service from Stockholm to Jönköping on Lake Vättern
1914 Ångbåts AB Jönköping merged with Ångfartygs AB Göta Kanal who takes over the WILHELM THAM.
07 December 1934 she grounded off Mörkö, refloated and repaired.
1957 The Ånfartygs AB Göta Kanal was sold to Helge Källssonat, Lidköping, the WILHELM THAM was registered by Rederi AB Göta Kanal.
1960 Rebuilt by Falkenbergs yard. Her wheelhouse replaced more forwards as given on the stamps.
Tonnage then 268 grt, 159 nrt. Dim. 31.83 x 6.73 x 2.82m. 70 Cabin passengers and 20 deck.
1966 Her steam engine taken out and replace by two Scania diesels 338 kW.
1981 Registered for Canalroute AB< Lidköping.
1996 Sold to Rederi AB ASTREA, Göteborg.
January 2001 Sold to Strömma Turist & Sjöfart AB, Stockholm.
21 July 2006 grounded outside Vadstena, passengers were transferred to the KUNG SVERKER, the next night pulled off.
2007 Two new diesel engines built in, Volvo-Penta D9-300 by Öckerö Shipyard in Öckerö, 441 kW., speed 10 knots.
19 July 2007 the BIRGER JARL was running into the stern of the WILHELM THAM which was stopped.
The collision caused little damage.
2011 She makes now 4 – 6 days itineraries between Stockholm and Gothenburg, same name and owner. Passengers 55, crew 12.
