Marasesti (Rumanian frigate)

Post by john sefton » Sun Feb 20, 2011 9:54 pm

Mărăşeşti is a frigate currently serving with the Romanian Navy, named after Mărăşeşti, the site of a Romanian victory in World War I.
Mărăşeşti served as the flagship of the navy between 1985 and 2004, when Regele Ferdinand (formerly HMS Coventry) became the new flagship. Launched in 1985, Mărăşeşti was since laid up until 1992 because of stability problems caused by excessive topweight. The lack of radar guided surface-to-air missiles makes her quite vulnerable.
