GHE NOC: She is basically the boat of the Hue lagoons and mostly used for fishing with fish- or tuna traps, or working the mussel beds. She is first reported in the XVII century. The larger type can carry also cargo.
She looks a long vessel with the heightened bulwark astern.
The wood used to build the GHE NOC; the three lower strakes are made of Cho wood while the lateral planking is made of the wood of the Kien-Kien.
The stern more vertical. Carvel planked. Shallow keel or none.
Decking consists of a few widely spaced planks, and the larger type carry a bamboo roof deckhouse for protecting crew or cargo.
Used 1-2 cleaver shaped rudders, which during fishing may be unshipped.
One aft raking mast which carried a rectangular lugsail.
During calms propelled by long sweeps.
The CHE NOC still exist, are mostly motorized.
Crew 3-5 or more depict on the size of the craft.
