Built as a cargo-reefer vessel under yard No869 by H.C.Stulcken& Sohn yard in Steinwerder, Germany for the Hamburg-London Dampfschiffs Linie, A.Kirsten & Co., Hamburg, Germany.
09 September 1957 launched as the VALERIA.
Tonnage 3,598 grt, 2,020 net, 5,049 dwt., dim. 106.24 x 15.00 x 8.79m.
Powered by two 8 cyl. Henschel-Pielstick diesel engines, 4,000 hp., one propeller, speed 14 knots.
13 September 1957 trials.
December 1957 delivered to owners, homeport Hamburg.

Used in the service of the Hamburg Chicago Linie.
15 November 1962 sold to Van Nievelt Goudriaan & Co’s Stoomvaart Mij. (NIGOCO), Hamburg GmbH and renamed in POLARIS.
She stayed in the Hamburg Chicago Line.
01 September 1971 sold to Sertan Shipping Co. Inc., Panama and registered under Greek flag, renamed ANEMOS with homeport Piraeus.
1972 Renamed by owner in TANIA.
Then mostly used as a tramp between North Europe and the Mediterranean.
1976 Sold to Astro Viamar Armadora, Piraeus, not renamed.
By this owner used in the Arrow Line a line between North Europe and the Mediterranean.
20 March 1980 laid up in Chalkis.
1981 Sold to Elhawi Shipping Co. Ltd., Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and renamed in ELHAWI STAR.

12 October 1982 after sailing from Rijeka bound for Jeddah, with a cargo of 3,631 tons of ceramic tiles and 781 tons of timber she suddenly sank in a calm sea shortly after sailing. The 30 crewmembers were all rescued.
She is now in a position 45 19.06N and 14 26.33E she is laying on her starboard side in a depth of around 38 metres of water.
