BATEIRA DE BUARCOS: A flat-bottomed river craft used for fishing at the month of the Mondego River, she is also known as BATEIRA DO MONDEGO.
Somewhat flattened bow, rounded forefoot, sharp stern.
Mast stepped trough a bench sets a lateen sail.
Outside rudder with a tiller.
When not sailed rowed by 1-2 pairs of oars.
Crew 3 – 4.
Reported lengths 6-10m, e.g. length 6.7m beam 1.68m, depth 0.5m.
