1985 Ordered as a passenger ship under yard No 218 by Howaldtswerke-Deutche Werft, Kiel for South Africa Safmarine Corporation (SAS) Capetown, with the intention to use her in the passenger trade between Southampton and South Africa.

21 January 1986 laid down for the Marlan Corporation, Port Louis, Mauritius
30 May 1986 launched as the ASTOR.
Tonnage 20,606 grt, 3,780 dwt, dim. 176.26 x 22.61 x 8.10m. length bpp. 153.11, draught 6.15m.
Powered by four Sulzer-Wärtsilä diesel engines, 15,400 kW, two shafts, speed 18 knots.
Accommodation for 650 passengers. Crew 300.
14 January 1987 completed. Under German flag and registry.

14 January 1987 sailed for her maiden voyage from Hamburg to Genoa continuing from there to South America. Then used for cruising in the Caribbean and other destinations around the world.
03 October 1988 sold to the Black Sea Shipping Co., Odessa U.S.S.R. and renamed in FEDOR DOSTOEVSKIY or spelled FEODOR DOSTOEVSKIY and FEDOR DOSTOYEVSKIY.
23 December 1988 chartered by Transocean Tours, West Germany till March 1990 where after she was chartered by Neckermann Seereisen.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 was she transferred to Fedor Dostoevskiy Shipping Co., Nassau, Bahamas. Under Bahama flag and registery. Still chartered by Neckermann.
01 December 1995 chartered by Aquamarin and renamed again in ASTOR.
1996 Sold to Astor Shipping Co., Nassau, Bahamas, and chartered by Transocean Tours, Bremen, Germany.
02 February 2009 sold to Premicon Kreuzfahrt, Germany still chartered by Transocean.
15 May 2009 she grounded off Copenhagen, was refloated and examined by surveyors for damage.
28 May 2010 transferred to Premicon Hochseekreuzfahrt GmbH & Co. KG MS “ASTOR”.
2011 In service. Tonnage given as 20,704 grt, 7,394 net, 3,498 dwt. IMO NO 8506373. Bahamas flag and registry. Still chartered by Transocean Tours.
