The Kung Karl was built by Charles Sheldon at Karlskrona, and was launched in 1694: with an overall length of 180ft a breadth of 47ft. and a normal laden draught of 23ft, she carried a complement of 920 and was armed with 90 guns.

Built as a first rate ship-of-the-line by Charles Sheldon at Karlskrona for the Swedish Navy.
Launched as KONUNG KARL most sources give KUNG KARL.
Displacement c 2730 ton, dim. 53.44 x 13.95 x 6.83m. (draught)
Armament: 10 – 36 pdr., 22 – 24 pdr., 30 – 18 pdr., 28 – 8 pdr, 18 – 4 pdr. guns, when built, but varied during her career between 90 and 120 guns.
Crew 850.
06 October 1694 completed.

At that time she was Swedish largest warship.
She was Admiral Hans Wachtmeister’s flagship in the expedition against Denmark in 1700, took King Karl XII during that voyage from Karlskrona to IJstad.
1771 Taken out of service and condemned.
