In 2008 Turkey issued three stamps for the 165th Anniversary of the Turkish Maritime Organization (TMO).
The company was founded under the name “Fevaid-I Osmaniye” in 1843, later she was known under the name “Sahane” and in 1870 as Idare-I Aziziye. The two stamps were designed after paintings made by the Turkish maritime painter Diyarbakirh Tahsin Bey (1874 -1937).

Built as a cargo-passenger ship under yard No 221 by J.L. Thomson & Son shipard in Sunderland U.K. for the China Mutual S.N. Co, London.

Powered by a 3-cyl steam engine, manufactured by T. Richardson & Son, West Hartlepool, 434 nhp, speed 14 knots.
Accommodation for 60 first class passengers.
1887 Delivered.
She was special designed for the trade to and from China, mostly her return voyage was with tea. With her speed of 14 knots she was at that time the fastest ship in that trade.
1894 Sold to Nippon Yusen KK, Tokyo Japan and renamed SHIBATA MARU.
1908 Sold to C.V. Sale, Hong Kong not renamed
1910 Sold to Gümüscüyan, (Lloyds Register gives M. Gumuchdjian), Istanbul, Ottoman Imperia and renamed MAHMUD SEVKET PASA.
After a while transferred to the Ottoman Maritime Administration (Seyr-I Sefain Idaresi).
April 1915 seized by the Osmanli Government, armed with 2 – 57mm QF guns.
July 1915 protection ship for Osmanli battleships in the Dardanelles.
08 August 1915 torpedoed by the British submarine E 14 off Dogan Aslan, she was beached.
Later towed to Istanbul for repairs.
1917 In service as a transport.
01 January 1918 decommissioned.
February 1919 returned to owners, renamed in ARARAT, homeport Trabson, Turkey.
1921 Again renamed MAHMUT SEVKET PASA with homeport Istanbul.
August 1933 out of service.
Broken up second quarter of 1935 in Istanbul.
