ATLANTIK 488 type factory trawlers

The ATLANTIK 488 type factory trawlers was built between 1986 and 1993 on the VEB Volkswerft Stralsund at Stralsund, Germany for the Russian Government.
The first ship of this type was the MOONZUND in 1986 and the last was the KAPITAN GORBACHEV in 1993. Altogether 37 units were delivered to Russian owners.
1993 The client became insolvency and the orders for more ships of this type were cancelled.

The type is equally suitable for fishing independently for up to 100 days or in fleets when she can stay even longer at sea when she is supplied at sea with fuel, equipment and provision, and her cargo offloaded at the high seas in reefer vessels.
She is designed for worldwide operation.
The load capacity is about 3,900 cubic meters for frozen fish, fishmeal and tins and oil, she has two reefer holds which can store about 2,670 cubic metres of frozen fish with a temperature down to minus 28 degree.
Fitted out with two freezers who can handle 60 tons of fish every 24 hour. A fish-liver-plant can produce 200 kg of oil every hour, and other oil for technical purposes. The type can produce also fishmeal
Her cannery can produce 26,000 cans of fish a day.
The fishing equipment permits both bottom trawling at depths down to 2000m and pelagic trawling.

The MOONZUND was built under yard No 801 by the VEB Volkswerft Stralsund for the Russian Government. The other units of this type have the same details.
30 April 1985 launched as the MOONSUND.
Tonnage 7,765 grt, 2,297 net, 3.365 dwt. Dim. 120.7 x 19.0 x 12.22m., length bpp. 107.09, draught 6.40m.
Powered by two diesel engine type 6VDS 48/42 AL-2, 5,296 kW, one shaft with a pitch propeller, speed 14.5 knots.
Crew 115 to 122 persons.
30 July 1986 completed.

02 July 1986 handed over to the fishing company Estrybprom, Tallin, Estonia.
1992 Renamed in MOONSUND.
1996 Sold by State Stock Corp.Ookean, Estonia to Rashi Shipping Inc., Panama and renamed MOON I.
08 March 1997 arrived in Mumbai for scrapping.

East Germany 1986 50pf sgE2714 scott?

So far I can find al her sisters are still in service in 2012.
