The stamp gives “banana boat” I have been sailing for many years on banana boats but this vessels carried a cargo of bananas, while the stamp shows a small craft, about the size our lifeboats were.
Not much I could find on this craft, only that she is for many people in Papua New Guinea the main transport craft between costal towns and villages. Some travelling more as 7 hours on open water.
Mostly made of fibreglass with a length of around 7 meter, and powered by an outboard motor.
Open decked the cargo and passengers have been covered by tarpaulins during rough weather. I would think twice before I made a trip on this small vessels at sea, without it looks any lifesaving equipment on board.
