BRYGADA MAKOWSKIEGO

In 1952 Poland issued a stamp commemorating its shipbuilding industry, Watercraft Philately has given that the BRYGADA MAKOWSKIEGO is depicted, while she was under construction at the Stocznia Gdansk yard at Gdansk.

Built as a cargo vessel under yard No b30/03 on the Gdanska Lenina yard in Gdansk for the Polish Steamship Company (PZM), Szczecin.
15 May 1948 keel laid down
27 March 1949 launched as the BRYGADA MAKOWSKIEGO she was the third ship of type B30 of which 29 ships were built for Polish and Russian accounts.
Tonnage 1,945 grt, 934 nrt, 2,610 dwt. Dim. 87 x 12.2 x 5.35m.
Powered by one 4-cyl steam engine manufactured by Z.P.M. Huta Zgoda at Katowice, 1,300 ihp. Speed 9.5 knots.
Four holds.
Crew 28.
20 April 1950 delivered to owners.

The ship of this class sailed mainly in the Baltic and the North Sea transporting coal to Germany, Sweden and Denmark and bringing iron ore from Sweden.
Her last voyage was with coal to Ireland where she arrived on 05 January 1979 and after discharging she sailed in ballast to Troon, where she arrived on 22 January 1979.

She was broken up at Troon, Scotland by West of Scotland Shipbreaking Co. Ltd.,
