(60,7') Dr:9,14m. (30') 2 triple expansion engines:6800 ihp. (5000 hp.) twin screw, 14 kn. Passengers 1st class:141, 2nd class:90, 3rd class:68, 26-11-'24 launched, 01-12-'25 completed, Maiden voyage Marseille - Madagascar.
Until WWII, Explorateur Grandidier was used in the Indian/Indochina line of Messageries Maritimes.
On the 4th February 1932 Ingerid (693 grt. Sweden) sank when in collision with the French ocean liner SS Explorateur Grandidier (10.268 grt) during a typhoon at St. Denis, Reunion.
'40 Laid up in Marseille, scuttled by the Germans at Marseille to block off the entrance of the bassin Mirabeau on 21-08-'44. She was refloated and scrapped after the war.
