HINCHINBROOKE. Mail packet Built in 1811. Ship rigged. With Captain William James in command she left Port Royal, Jamaica on 19th July 1813 accompanied by HM Brig FORRESTER. She landed mail at Crooked Is. Bahamas and departed on 25th July in squally weather. By 10.00pm a hurricane had blown her on a reef 2.5 miles SE of Watling's Is. The crew managed to get ashore with the loss of the surgeon and were rescued by a schooner from Providence - Montserrat 1986. $2.30. SG699 (WP May 1990)
