Auckland Harbour: Maori tribes fought over the site of Auckland Harbor until 1840 when Captain Hobson selected it as the capital of the colony.
Today (1980) it is a modern container port, the largest in New Zealand.
According to port authorities, the ship on the top left is the Greek MYRTOS on charter to the chartering agency of the People’s Republic of China. To the right is MARAMA, MONTREAL STAR and JAN MATEJKO and in the lower right, partly visible, seagoing suction dredging GEOPOTES V.
