Tonga issued on 01 July 1987 a set of four stamps and one miniature sheet to remember the first friendly boat races between the people of the Tonga and Samoa Islands.The craft depict is unknown and is a stylized canoe.
In this islands the fautasi is mostly used for races, a long narrow canoe with a length between 15 and 21 metre.
