Norway LNG tanker and Kaplan-Propellor-Turbine

Norway issued on 21 February 1991 one stamp of 5.00Kr which shows plans of a L.N.G. (Liquefied Naturel Gas Carrier), a tanker which can transport liquefied naturel gas.
The tanker depict on the stamp is designed by the Kvaerner Industry A/S, these Group has an international reputation for the design and building of large liquefied gas carriers of this type with spherical gas tanks.
Norway built till 1991 11 ships of these type on the Rosenberg Verft A/S at Stavanger, two ships with a loading capacity of 87,000 cubic metre, three of 125,000 cubic metre which till that date were the largest gas carriers in the world.
Kvaerner Rosenberg A/S has a worldwide license for the design and 14 yards around the world have a permission to build this type of gas carriers after plans of the Norway Group.
The gas carrier on the stamp is an unnamed type ship, she has six spherical gas tanks, dimensions of the ship is 293.74 x 41.60 x 25.0m., length bpp. 281.25m., draught at summer load line 11.70m, on the summer load-line she has a deadweight of 73,074 ton.
The tanks have a diameter as follows, tank 1 has a diameter of 30.1 m. and the other 5 tanks have a diameter of 35m.
Powered by a 38,000 shp engine, speed 20 knots.
One the foreground of the stamp is depict a Kaplan-Propeller-turbine named after her designer the Austrian Victor Kaplan, he got a licence of this turbine in 1913.
The depicted turbine is made by Kvaerner Eureka in Norway.
The turbine is used to generate electricity from rivers and streams of which the drop is less than 50 metre, also she can be used in tidal power stations.
The turbine is compact and very efficient.
