Sweden issued on 02 October 1993 two stamps for the 350th commemoration of the Hydrographic Service in Sweden
The 2.90 Kr stamp is designed after a cover of a sea atlas made by Johann Manssons which was published in 1664. It shows the surveying equipment of the that time used by the surveyor, the instruments used was a sounding line with sounding lead, a hourglass and a compass at his feet.
The ships showed are vessels of that time, while the chart depict is not from the atlas of Manssons but from a later time, the sea chart shown was drawn by Johan Nordenancher in 1800 and published in 1805.
It shows part of the chart of the island of Oerskaer, the Graesoe Island, the Oeregrund Archipelago and part of the Aland Sea.
The other stamp shows the modern research vessel NILS STRÖMCRONA built under yard No 501 by the A/B Nye Oskarshamns Varv, Oskarshamn for the Swedish Hydrographic Service (Swedish Government).
Launched as the NILS STRÖMCRONA named after the Swedish hydrograph N Strömcrona (1664-1740) and also manager of the Swedish pilot service from 1697. His hydrographic survey-work was responsible for many Swedish sea charts.

12 June 1986 was she completed.

2014 As given by http://www.equasis, under the name ATLANTIC COUGAR, same owners and manager. Belize flag and registry.
