So little info about this ship. More info needed.
The HMP Prince Regent is listed on the Falmouth Packets web-site with Capt. Joseph White, but no
details given on the ship except that she was in use as a packet in 1820
There is also a Prince Regent listed as built in 1811 in Shields, with master White, bringing convicts to
Sydney in 1827, then departing Sydney on Dec. 4 or 5, 1827 under command of Capt W. Richards bound for Calcutta. This ship struck a reef on Barnard Island off the Queensland coast and was totally wrecked. The fate of her crew is unknown, according Australian Shipwrecks by Charles Bateson. Could this be the same ship?
The same web-site also lists a Prince Regent sailing in 1854, built at Shields in 1811, but somewhere in the records a mistake was made as she was listed as wrecked in 1827, so she could not have sailed in 1854. Her tonnage of 527 ton seems a bit large for a packet ship.
